Cleaning the Sidewinder Roller
The canvas roller can be washed in the same manner as the Cratex one. Use a soft tooth brush and warm soapy water, then rinse. Let the roller air dry overnight. Do not use a hair drier or put it in an oven.
Replacing the Canvas
When the canvas needs to be replaced:
1. Use the appropriate size replacement canvas roller cover. Submerge the roller in lacquer thinner or acetone. This loosens the cement so the canvas can be removed. Remove canvas.
2. Apply contact cement (use DAP® Weldwood® Contact Cement or comparable product) to the roller and to the primed (shiny) side of a replacement canvas. Wait for cement to get tacky, then apply canvas to roller.
3. After the cement has set up, trim the canvas to size using a sharp pair of scissors or a hobby knife. Clean off the excess cement on sides of roller with a Q-tip moistened in lacquer thinner or acetone. You are now ready to run again.
