N-Land Pacific Model Railroad Club The N-Land Pacific Model Railroad Club is the largest Free-moN group in California. With nearly 30 modules and 15 current members the club participates in four to six train shows a year. They also host an open house at their Upland, California facility. The club has no formal officers or dues and members range in age from 23 to 69. Participation in events and major club functions are decided by majority vote. A monthly breakfast meeting is held on the first Saturday of the month. Their modules feature scenery from various southern California locations, some real and some imagined. Many depict desert areas, small towns or isolated industries. The era can change with each passing train although “50s to the present” is the most representative. Some steam and transition era diesels as well as the most modern freight and passenger locomotives can be seen on the club’s large public layouts. |

Information about the club’s activities can be found on their website. N scale model railroaders in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside and Orange counties are invited to check out the group and join the club if the Free-moN concept proves interesting. |

Welcome Back Model Railroad News! |
|
After a brief hiatus one of our favorite model railroading publications, Model Railroad News, is back in print. The March 2012 issue’s article entitled “The Details on Digitrax’s N-Scale Sound Decoders” gives an in-depth look at the Digitrax line of DCC Sound decoders. A portion of the article describes the installation of a decoder in a Kato E8A N-scale locomotive. Here’s what they say about Aztec’s frames: “…The frame is then shipped to Aztec Manufacturing, who, for a truly reasonable price, will mill your frame to make room for the Digitrax decoder, speaker, and capacitor. Aztec does incredibly fine milling work, and all components fit perfectly in their designated locations…” Pick up a copy today to read the entire article. |
